Day 4 - wood shavings everywhere, I guess this is my life now

Day 4 of NPC-like log.

Today I managed to add a standing character with rotating camera to my game. Nothing exceptional, but it made me realise several things. Like that I need a bigger fight arena or that torches are needlessly oversized. Next step - getting character to move.

Another thing I did today was start of my latest woodcarving project - a scabbard for my longsword. I generally pick up new skills very fast (say, if skill levels are from 1 to 10, I can pick up level 4 in anything I want in about an hour) so it wasn't difficult. My sword already fits neatly into carved-out part of a plank despite me using chisels for the first time in my life. Tomorrow some more carving, making it a bit deeper to not loose fit during sanding, and planning the next step. I need a tool I do not have yet, linseed oil, furniture-specialised screws and time. Also I need to decide what do I want to carve on decorative side. Perhaps a spell?

I have one spell on my wall right now. My wife wanted a spell to stop her overbearing family from badmouthing us. Can't really stop them from doing so, thus I placed a spell to protect us from any negative consequences of their behaviour. I used tree of life as a base, followed a "two worlds connected by one person" structure using Chinese symbols for family relations with clarification in Runes. Wheel of Fate as the engine of the spell with snake symbolising direction it turns. As an outcome I used Eye of Horus surrounded by dragon holding a sanctuary rune. For now it works well.

Weather and kids were killing me today, so I forego fencing lessons. I couldn't risk two hour-long trips in car without ability to concentrate. I feel quite sad about it.

Life is like woodcarving - only the latest strokes and cuts can be seen, but those are least important.
